§ 114-110. Purpose.

  • It is found and declared that recreation, sports, tourism, trade and commerce are essential assets of the county and the promotion thereof contributes to the health, prosperity and economic and general welfare of its citizens. It is the purpose of this article, therefore, to promote the continued development of these assets through the institution of a three mil ad valorem tax on property in the Cumberland Special Services District No. II created and established by the board of commissioners. The proceeds of the tax shall be designated to pay, wholly or partially, the cost of providing, supplementing or enhancing local government services within the district and to construct and maintain facilities therefor, which local government services may include: the promotion and enhancement of recreation, sports, tourism and trade, including the construction, maintenance and repair of facilities related thereto, and improvements to transportation and other local government infrastructure, services and facilities.
