§ 18-66. Created; membership, terms, appointment and voting.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created the development and inspection division electrical advisory board, which shall be composed of five members, all of whom shall hold current class II state electrical licenses. Each member of the board of commissioners shall be entitled to appoint one member to the advisory board. Of the members first appointed, two shall be appointed for a term of one year, two shall be appointed for a term of two years, and one shall be appointed for a term of three years. Thereafter, members shall be appointed for terms to run concurrently with and at the pleasure of the appointing commissioner's term of office and until a successor is appointed and qualified. If an appointing commissioner is no longer in office due to a general election or a special election in which more than one year remains in that commissioner's term, any member appointed by that commissioner shall be subject to removal with or without cause and without regard to any unexpired term by the newly elected commissioner filling such seat. The newly elected commissioner shall have the right to appoint a new member to the advisory board under the same requirements as his predecessor as set forth in this section.

    (b)

    Vacancies on the development and inspection division electrical advisory board shall be filled for an unexpired term in the manner in which original appointments are required to be made. No member shall be eligible for reappointment to the advisory board earlier than one year following the end of such member's term upon the advisory board, except for appointment immediately following any initial appointment under this section.

    (c)

    Any member of the development and inspection division electrical advisory board who is absent without cause from two consecutive meetings of the advisory board shall be automatically terminated from membership upon such board.

    (d)

    The members of the development and inspection division electrical advisory board shall select from among themselves a chairman whose duty shall be to preside over the meetings of the advisory board, to serve as a member of the county board of adjustments and appeals, and to perform such other duties as may be required under this chapter. The presence of any three members of the advisory board shall constitute a quorum; and all decisions of the board shall require affirmative votes of a majority, but not less than three members present. No advisory board member shall act in any case in which he has any personal interest.

    (e)

    Members of the development and inspection division electrical advisory board shall receive no compensation for service on such board.
