Chapter 54. FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION |
Article I. IN GENERAL |
§ 54-1. Fireplugs, inspection before backfilling; repairing; notice when out of service.
All new public fireplugs installed must be inspected by the county water system before backfilling. All new private fire mains installed must be inspected by the fire marshal's office before backfilling. All fireplugs will be installed as directed by the county water and the fire marshal's office. A red disc will be placed on any fireplug which has been turned off for repairs or is out of service for any reason. Immediate notice will be given to the chief of the fire department. The chief will be notified when such plug is returned to active service. Battalion chiefs will install a disc on each plug found out of service while making their inspection checks of plugs in the districts. The chief will notify the water department to repair such plugs. This disc will be removed when repairs are made by the county water system, and the county water system will notify the fire chief that the plug has been returned to service.
