§ 6-94. Notice of intent to engage in business.

  • (a)

    All applicants for licenses under this chapter shall give notice that application has been filed and of the purpose of making such application by publication of an advertisement once a week for two consecutive weeks by the business license division manager while the application is being investigated. Such publication shall be made in the newspaper in the county in which legal advertisements are published. The notice shall contain a particular description of the location of the proposed business; the name of the applicant; and a statement that any objections to the issuance must be in writing and received by the business license division manager on or before the date specified in the publication. The advertisement shall be of type not smaller than ten-point capital and lower case and shall be at least a one-inch column. The advertisement need not appear on the same days as legal advertisements are regularly published.

    (b)

    The applicant at locations where there is no then-existing county license for the same alcoholic beverages in effect shall cause to be placed upon the location of the proposed business a sign or signs stating the following:

    Cobb County ____________ license applied for. Any objection to this application must be in writing and received by the Cobb County Business License Division Manager at ____________ (address) on or before ____________ o'clock on the ____________ day of ____________ 20 ____________ .

    The sign or signs shall be 18 inches by 24 inches in size and shall face toward all public streets, sidewalks or other public property which adjoin the location so as to be clearly legible by persons using such public area. The sign required by this section shall be posted on the property from the date of the first publication of the legal advertisement through the date for filing objections as specified on the signage and in the legal publication.
